Background:
In the latest update for iOS the Tablets and Inscriptions was introduced. These, as I see it, add some additional customization to the game play and add something more to buy for the emblems that the lvl 40s have piling up, (yes Im sure it was for GL to earn an extra buck as well).

Tablets:
These are fairly strong and offers a buff that are either for offense or defense and a couple assist with farming mobs for gold (example of the latter is getting back 3% hp per kill, allowing you to stay out for longer grinding soldiers).

You can have three active Tablets in a match if you’ve bought all three slots and added active Tablets. The Tablets are permanent and will not expire after the match (but can be changed/unlocked when not in a match in the Tablet menu).

The tablets need to be Ascended before the bonus is active in game, this is done by adding Inscriptions to the Tablet in the Menu: Tablet -> Management -> Click the Pen symbol next to the Tablet you wish to add Inscriptions to. The Tablet bonus is only activated if you have the required or higher amount of Order and Chaos energy added to the Tablet (this is what people mean when they write that a tablet is 11/5, i.e. it requires 11 Order Energy and 5 Chaos energy to be activated). This amount is stated on the inscriptions that you add, you can have a total of four inscriptions per tablet. The final step when you have added the correct amount of Order/Chaos energy is to click the Ascend symbol next to the tablet (top right side), this locks the Tablet and activates its bonus. This is not permanent, you can unlock it at the cost of 750 emblems / 20 runes. Unlocking is done with the Ascend button that now have turned in to a padlock.

Note that many of the tablets require one or more Gold inscriptions, the example of 11/5 requires at least One Bronze (3 Order), Two Silver (4 Order) and One Gold (5 Chaos). You can optimize the bonus by adding all Gold Inscriptions.

Inscriptions:
The Inscriptions offer minor buffs and have a variety of stat bonuses as +crit, Armor penetration, HP etc.

The Order or Chaos energy amount is three for Bronze, four for Silver and five for Gold.
If you enter Tablet -> Exchange (bottom right) you can combine four lesser Inscriptions to create one greater, i.e. four Silver = one Gold.
The effect and faction energy seem to be random, i.e. if you combine four +crit with Order energy its not guaranteed that you’ll get +crit nor Order energy on your greater inscription (this to my great surprise and irritation).

To receive the bonus you need to Ascend the Tablet, i.e. lock it, with Inscriptions filling the Energy requirements.
Note that you will receive the bonus from the equipped Inscriptions even if you haven’t Ascended the Tablet.
To equip three Tablets you need to buy all three slots.

Amount you can have in game: Four Inscriptions per Tablet, on three Tablets, total: 12
Multiple of same Inscription stack: YES
Order/Chaos Energy amount specified on Inscription.
Upgrading from Bronze to Silver or Silver to Gold generate a RANDOM upgraded Inscription, both bonus and faction is random.
