Gameloft has just announced that their biggest update to date (Update #7 for those keeping track) will be coming out later this month to iOS and shortly after across all platforms. The update is set to bring pvp arena combat, ride-able mounts, and a new dungeon along with numerous changes and fixes. These features are all welcome (read demanded) additions, but the most surprising news is that Gameloft is eliminating the subscription aspect of the game entirely! Before now, players were charged $0.99 a month or $2.99 for six months to access on top of the original app purchase price. This will certainly increase the user base dramatically and is a VERY smart move for Gameloft who is obviously positioning this game to be the mobile mmo to beat.
The PVP arenas provide a much welcome new way to PVP beyond the current “zone” system that basically has almost entirely become a way for bored max level players to pray on those that are trying to quest. The PvP combat arenas, will come in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 varieties and should help alleviate the pain of players trying to level in PVP zones. Mounts will be purchasable (read, real money) in the form of four new mounts: two horses and two giant wolves. Lastly the new dungeon is actually the long-awaited second half of the Salien dungeon and is set for the “hardcore” adventurer.
We will let you know more as we hear it, but get ready for a LOT of new players to be fighting alongside you as Order and Chaos goes free later this month.
