Order & Chaos Online is coming to Mac OS X by the end of march!

Well it looks like Order & Chaos is making the jump to another platform this month by heading over to the Mac by way of the Mac App Store. Just a few months after making its debut on Facebook Gameloft has wasted no time in continuing its move to the desktop. This can only be a good thing for iOS, Android, and Facebook O&C fans as it only increases the likely-hood of future updates. Little is known about whether this latest desktop version will let users play cross platform, but this is unlikely given gamelofts history of siloing each platform within itself. Look for it any day now and we shall keep you up to date on any further developments!

  There’s a lot less motivation there. The PC space is already super crowded with WoW-like MMO’s that are free and probably not significantly worse than O&C. I haven’t tried them because I’m on a Mac, where the only choices are WoW (expensive and addictive) and recently the inanely awful Warhammer Online, which shows how good O&C is by being so much worse. Mac users are probably more desperate for a WoW-like MMO. Also, I bet most O&C users are iOS (rather than Android) and thus are more likely to use Mac’s for their PC needs than Windows, so if they’re targeting existing users Mac makes more sense.
  
  Also on the programming end Mac and iOS have similar code stacks so it’s likely that they were already 80% done the Mac version before they started. Windows would likely be a ton more work.

Is it gonna be possible to play on your iOS account on the mac with the same server?

  Man they’d be crazy to not let at least iOS users play their normal characters on their Macs, though it might still be viable financially. Some people don’t like playing a game this complex on their phone, don’t have an iPad, but would be happy to have a cheap, casual WoWalike to play on their mac. If I didn’t have an iPad I’d probably be in that group.
  
  Obviously I’m hoping it coexists with iOS, as otherwise I’m definitely not starting over just to play on my Mac. The game works great on iPad 3, I don’t really have much of a reason to use the Mac instead.

    Have we to be changing our ipad from 2 to 3 to 4 and so on to follow every game improvement? I think this is a bit frustrating as some people are dying to have at least an ipad 2 which is starting to be obsolete for the upcoming content. I think A Mac Version is NEEDED for those who want graphics and this one coexisting with the IPAD version (with lower graphics) would be the perfect solution for both of gameplay and our pockets. I mean the RIGHT thing to be done with all of this in my opinion is to have the SAME GAME on both platforms considering with have a version with graphics lowered for ipad (which will look great anyway).

      Ideally they’d make the game tweaked for all platforms, with different elements of the graphics enabled automatically so that it runs well on ipads 1-3 and the various iphones/ipods. Then the mac version could have controls because the laptops are way less predictable than iphones/ipads.
      
      Unfortunately it doesnt’ always work that way and IMHO the game was unplayable on iPad1 just like most graphically intensive games. Remember it came out in the era of iPhone 3GS, phones that are also currently not ideal for playing the latest games unless a LOT of energy was put into optimizing the game for each device.
      
      Personally I think that’s a subservient issue to the fact that the servers are incompatible between mobile and mac versions of the game, as that affects it more. Right now there’s no reason to play it on Mac when you could play WoW instead, the only reason to play O&C is because you can ALSO play it on mobile.

    yea, me neither!! What is this stupid process to download O&A and takes me to another site for a free 5 day membership asking for cc info? Plus will auto charge me $35 after 5 days?

Hey it’s now available on the Mac App Store for 6.99. Installing now. Eager to see if it works with existing servers or not.

  Our worst fears have come true. Mac version uses “America Mac” as server, and my iOS characters are nowhere to be found. #epicbummer
  
  The game itself looks great like on iPad 3 and on my MacBook Pro 2010 it runs pretty with with the graphics settings turned up (there are several options). Some of the controls are a bit buggy (running with both left and right mouse buttons down like in WoW is super broken) but overall it has the expected effect of giving easier control through keyboard shortcuts.
  
  They also reconfigured the UI to use up the extra space which is good. Quest text is the right size etc. Something that they DEFINITELY need to add to the iPad version, where text is enormous because it’s the same relative size compared to the screen as on iPhone.
  
  Overall I don’t think I’ll be playing it much because I’m more interesting in my iPad than my Mac for this game and they are stupidly forcing me to choose one or the other. Somehow this game looks great on iPad because it’s unexpected and surprising to see something so rich on that small screen, whereas on my Mac it just looks sad and begs the question: “Why aren’t you just playing WoW?” (For me the answer is I was addicted to WoW in the past, which means I probably shouldn’t even be playing with this fire).

Reallly GL?! Why dont you guys do the things you have been talking about for months…like PvP arenas, wait how about giving the android users the new update! So far this is what I know…the game is fun and I want to play it, I want to tell people to play it as well…but, seeing the lack of support that you guys have for us is dissapointing. I even called your 1800 num…guess what I got? A lady saying she couldnt tell me anything, she probably doesnt even know what company she works for, hell I bet you dont know what you guys are doing. Prove me wrong, give the new update and everything to EVERYONE at once!

This is rediculous, why can’t they just make the game cross-platform like they’ve been saying for almost a year?! it would make everything so much better. I want to be able to play with my friends using IOS devices while still playing with my android friends
